Kate, Practice Manager,  joined the O.L.V.H. family in November 2006.  For years before joining the Old Lyme Veterinary Hospital staff, Kate was the practice manager of a human Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice. She also managed a large, two-facility human dental practice. She has an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. In her free time, Kate loves to be outdoors, as she is an avid hiker, bird-watcher, and gardener. Her love of nature is widespread. Currently, she is a site-monitor for a scientific study following the migration of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds. In 2008, Kate's property was certified as an official Backyard Habitat.  She is the proud parent of son,  Ryan and many "fur-children", including "Lily", a Husky mix, "Abby", a Rat Terrier, "Anthony", a Chihuahua, two parakeets, two cockatiels and numerous cats.  Future goals include: pursuing a degree in animal behavior, hiking the Appalachian Trail, and continuing her study of migratory birds.

No DescriptionKris, Veterinary Technician, has been a member of the OLVH staff since October 2003.  A 2002 graduate of the University of Delaware, she received a Bachelor of Music in percussion performance.  As a professional musician, Kris spends most of her free time in rehearsals or playing in pit orchestras for local musicals.  An avid dog trainer, she is also involved in dog showing, where she has earned multiple obedience degrees.  She is also working towards finishing her show dogs' championships.  In her spare time, Kris and her dogs enjoy hiking and agility, a sport in which she is hoping to soon compete in. Kris is pictured with her Border Collie "Bastian", a canine actor, most recently seen on Broadway in a touring company of the musical Annie.  Other pets include another rescue Border Collie "Caden", "Willow" and "Fagin", Flat-Coated Retrievers, three cats (Pippin, Gryffin and Elliott), and a barnyard of chickens and ducks.  Future goals include: playing in a Broadway pit orchestra and/or becoming a Broadway animal trainer.

Rose and her husband Curt share their home with a menagerie of animals.  Their "kids" include a Boxer/Golden Retriever mix named Sadie, a cat named Simon, and two birds - a Patagonian Conure named Kokopeli and an African Grey Parrot named Bubbles.  They also have several tropical fish tanks and hope to acquire more!  When she is not taking care of her zoo she enjoys hiking or mountain biking with her dog, going to the beach or just spending quality time with her husband.

No Description resized to 300 pixels wideJasper, Public Relations/Hospital Welcoming Committee, joined the Old Lyme Hospital staff around Halloween of 2005. He is the current Public Relations liaison for the hospital.  His job description can be defined as lounging at the front desk, soaking up the suns warmth, and meeting every single person [and animal] that walks in the front door.  In his spare time, Jasper enjoys chasing toy mice, begging for Lean Treats at the reception desk, and hugging his waterbowl.  As the hospital's PR liaison, he entered the staff into the KOOL 101 FM pizza party contest and won a pizza party with DJ Sarah Owens for the
entire staff in May of 2006.

Ruffian Capone, Public Relations In-Training/Chief Filing Clerk/Personal Trainer to Jasper, joined the Old Lyme Hospital staff in Summer 2009. He is currently in-training to be a PR liason for the hospital.
His job description can be defined as chasing Jasper, reclining in the office filing cabinet, and raising staff morale - He's a great cuddler. Our staff enjoys his propensity for unprovoked aerial attacks! His favorite pastimes include ripping kleenex out of the carton, carrying stuffed mice around, and shuffling papers about.

UPDATE!  Mr.Capone was fired after he was linked to a series of  vandalized bags of prescription cat food.  Jasper has been exonerated of all charges.  Ruffian is now in a high security facility otherwise known as our manager's home.  He is adored on a daily basis.  Kate maintains Ruffy is innocent and believes he was framed.
